Nuit Blanche

My mind visits a thousand places every day. Some are places I go because I have to, like if the car insurance is due today and other places I go because they simply bring me joy, like the trip I took to Venice with Countrymouse. Music and images fill my mind too. If I see or hear something and it sticks with me, it gets my attention. This mainly happens with music, but sometimes with movies or videos. I first watched this short film, Nuit Blanche (French for White Night) a month or so ago. Its spin on reality intrigued me and it's resurfaced a time or two since then.  In the words of director/cinematographer, Arev Manoukian, "Nuit Blanche explores an experience many of us have lived before – a fleeting yet powerful connection with a perfect stranger. Set in a dark cobblestone street in the 1950’s, a man catches the gaze of a woman in a cafe across the street. This split-second moment becomes suspended in time, as the two gravitate towards each other in a hyper real fantasy where nothing can hold them back." Hmmm... hyper real fantasy? Mr. Manoukian, can I have some of that?

  1. Love the first line of this post! It must be very fun to be inside your head!

  2. I'm so with you - my mind goes on many trips in a day, too. Glad there are others like me!

Umm...Did I read correctly that you have FIVE sons? I have two (and a daughter) and they wear me out completely. They are almost three and 20 months so that might be part of it but holy criminy, they never, ever stop and they are WILD. So different than my daughter!!! Of course they completely melt me and I love them so much but I am tired at the end of the day mostly due to those two little hellions...:)
