hermione grows up

There are a lot of Harry Potter fans out there. I know there are. I like old Harry, but I never quite caught the bug. The Mousehouse's #1 fan isn't one of our pups, it's actually Countrymouse. He's read all the books (several times) and of course, has seen all the movies, both in theaters and at home (because you know we own them all thus far).  I haven't read ANY of the books, except the last half chapter of the last book, because I wanted to know how the story ended.  I think this one single act perhaps shocked Countrymouse more than anything else I've ever done. (It's been a few years now and I still don't think he's gotten over it.)  It's a strange thought to think Hogwarts and the gang have been part of pop culture for well over 10 years now.  My littlest pups were just 2 when the first book was published.  Harry Potter has grown up with them.

Today marks 95 days until Part 1 of the final Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is released.  (No, I am not that nerdy. Yes, I looked it up.)  By this time next year, we will have all seen the last half chapter of the last book on the big screen.  I think I'm going to miss Harry and his friends.

We've come to "know" Harry, Hermione and Ron.  You often hear a common problem child actors have is breaking away from the roles that made them famous.  At this point, I think I would have a hard time seeing Dan Radcliffe in something else and not think, "Oh there's Harry". Time will tell.

One way to separate yourself from your character is to reinvent your appearance.  I've seen Radcliffe without glasses sporting a spiky hairstyle, but that only goes so far.  I think the lovely Emma Watson has a much better chance of finding her street cred. This is how we first met Emma...

No wonder we all thought she was adorable.

Now meet the new and improved (and dare I say sexy)  Emma Watson...

All I can say is WOW!  (It's almost enough to make me want a pixie.)  As for being stuck playing Hermione her whole life?  Not a chance!

And because, yes, I am that nerdy, here's a teaser of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

  1. I am that nerdy, lol. I am a huge fan, love the books, hope the Deathly Hallows movie does it justice. My older has finally read them all straight through and the younger is going through them on tape right now. I wish those kids well and I hope they have a grand long career but Daniel will always be Harry to me even if he did do Eqqus nude on stage.

  2. You're right, she looks awesome. There are maybe three other women in the world who can rock that hairstyle: Halle Berry, Natalie Portman, and Twiggy. Pretty good company for little Hermione, huh?

    Thanks for visiting me today!

  4. Now I'm wondering should I do a quick read of all of them again before the movie comes out..........yes, yes I think I will.

And for the record, the only way I've been able to drag my husband to every movie in the theater so far is because he knew Emma Watson was going to hit her stride pretty soon. :)

  5. Wow she has grown up. Read them all and seen the films as my children, nephews, nieces all grew up with Harry Potter, so joined in to know what they were talking about :)

  6. I love the new hair-cut, too! I always thought I would like to wear a pixie cut ... then I saw Rosemary's Baby ... BYE BYE pixie!

We are heading to Disney next month, and the family is hoping we'll have time to visit Universal (HARRY POTTER). Not sure if we'll hit it this time - at least we'll have the movie to look forward to!

  7. Read them all...5 times...not kidding. Love the movies. Can't wait for Deathly Hallows. I had to read the last pages before I started to book. I had to read it knowing some things. It's all about choice :)

  8. I will have to make sure that my Daughter Maddy sees this-she really likes Emma Watson as she (and I) believe that she hasn't succumbed to the pressure that other young actresses seem to of vamping up and shedding their innocent image...I hope that Emma Watson isn't doing this now....

Thanks for linking up your song today-I had heard it before here I think.

Off I go now to watch the trailer-how exciting!

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.
